CHINESE TAKE OUT

FINDERS KEEPERS
It's long been thought Marco Polo
introduced east to west. However
history shows the Chinese knew
of western influences long before.
Hence Marco was not the first nor
was Christopher Columbus. This
1418 map is proof that a Chinese
eunuch explored North America
long before Chris arrived in 1492.
WHO DOESN'T LOVE CHINESE?
Trade sanctions aside to this day we westerners
continue to be enamored with all things Chinese.
For centuries almost every important room has
included some form of Asian influence. Whether
it be the 18th century wall paper that once hung
on the walls of Baroness Pauline de Rothschild's
chic London apartment or Caroline Applebee's
"Chinese Modern" decor on I Love Lucy. Yet
few desire to live in the Forbidden City. Rather
a melange - a mix of east and west works best.
The key is to carefully curate one's options. As
with ordering from the local Chinese cafe too
much of a good thing is rarely good for you.
EASTERN EXPOSURE
From our very start Montana has been influenced by
China. As these Nevada City (left and top) interiors
show, Chinese miners brought a bit of home along
for the ride. Hence historical precedence is that even
if you live in a log cabin you can still spice things up. Whether in a traditional, country, modern, or avant
garde space a bit of exotica adds elegance. Which
is why C+V HOME offers Montana the best of the
east way out west. Just because we live far from it
all doesn't mean we don't need an occasional bit of
eastern exposure. So rather than add yet another log,
antler, or stuffed something to your cabin why not
grab some Chinese to go in Lewistown? Xièxiè!
