TABULA RASA

WHAT'S NEW?
Who doesn't need a pick me up?
That extra something that makes
life fun. Immediate gratification
doesn't have to cost a fortune. A
room makeover can be achieved
by injecting a few new elements
into an existing space. Some may
advise that "less is more" but one
or two things can reinvent even
the most monastic of spaces. So whether one's budget is high or
low, it's easy to get fresh NOW!
PILLOW TALK
Little is easier than throwing a few
new pillows into the mix. Consider
them quite cushy yet very effective
punctuation points. An added spot
of color or added texture enhances
any room. However what could be
more comfy as a velvet banquette
mounded with a plethora of lovely
soft bits? Especially when they're
a carefully curated pastiche of mix
and match patterns and hues. All
that's needed is a bit of FLUFF.
A PIECE OF WORK
Each of us sees things from our
own perspective. Hence artistic endeavors are a highly personal matter. And while an invitation
to view one's etchings can seem
sketchy, the occasional show or
tell can be quite telling. Adding something new to one's private collection needn't break the bank
But if so - aren't you worth it?
SAY WATT?!
Shedding light on a situation is not only
illuminating, it guarantees that one sees things for what they are. But lighting the
way shouldn't be about function alone.
The perfect lamp, sconce, or chandelier
can add a sculptural element to a room.
And little flips the switch more than a
new lamp on the premises. While it has
been said that two are better than one,
a solo lamp or strategically mismatched
duo can brighten things up. So why not
do a spot check today? All you need do
is see every room in a new light...
FLOTSAM AND JETSAM
It's all too easy to assume that decorative
accessories are nothing more than dust
collectors. However they're akin to that
handbag or shoes that not only make an
outfit, but also serve a purpose. Candles
aflame not only add a glow. Their scent
can subtly mask last night's dinner. That strategically placed platter or dish not
only looks amazing but also covers that
glass ring from parties past. And while
family photos will be banished for resale,
they're reminders of just how lucky we
are. Your home should be all about you!
