THE EYES HAVE IT
OPEN AND SHUT CASE
The infamous fashionista - Diana Vreeland
once said "the eye has to travel." Meaning
that in essence one must aggressively expose
oneself to new and innovative people, things,
and experiences. Savvy aesthetes like Fleur
Cowles spent their lives living outside of the
realm of normality. A skill which comes in
handy when decorating one's abode. A key
talent that the best tastemakers possess is an
"eye" for the extraordinary. The innate skill
of seeing things uniquely is a quite rare and
valuable commodity. And leveraging such
talent insures perception becomes reality.
ROOM WITH A VIEW
When considering an empty space, most of us
can't see the possibilities. Hence experts claim
that an empty house will take twice as long to
sell as one fully furnished. However when one
is considering a new abode, it often equally or
more challenging to see past another person's
stuff" Which is why "staging" has become such
a important component to moving challenged
real estate. By neutralizing an environment,
these professionals enable prospective buyers
to see the possibilities. And most important -
envision what it would be like to live there.
Thus it's all in the eye of the beholder.
DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?
At first glance one might assume that an antique
secretary belongs in a library. Or a massive chest
of drawers should stay in the bedroom. Yet one
can make a bold statement in any room of the
house. Consider the most fabulous trompe l'oeil
secretary or beautiful burl wood chest on chest
currently in our shop. Both could make a big
impression in a front hall. Or add some whimsy
to a living room. Either could fill a niche in your
mega master bath. The fact is one's options are
limited only by an inability to see things as they
truly are. Thus when decorating one's home it's
best to keep an open mind to all of the options.
VIEW FINDER
Putting it all together may seem a daunting task.
Which is why shops such as C+V HOME exist.
Our job is to search the world for lovely things.
The sort one rarely sees or finds in Montana.
Some have questioned the very idea of running
such an endeavor in the heart of rural Montana.
Such myopia only proves that they've yet to see
the light. One need not live in the city to lead a
beautiful life in a even more beautiful place. All
that's required is a willingness to look over the
obvious and think big. Why don't you see for
yourself and take a road trip to Lewistown? Or
hit www.cvhomemt.com. Seeing is believing!
