EYE YI YI
When it's right, it's great. However
when wrong it's awful. Some folks
naturally gravitate towards what is
bad for them. Mixing a menage of
crimes against humanity under one
roof. Yet one can't blame them. Try
as they might they can't get their
act (room) together. For reasons
beyond their control they cannot
make an aesthetic statement that
inspires rather than repulses. All
because they lack the ability to
see things for what they truly are.
It's really not their fault. "Taste"
is an elusive skill. One which not
everybody comes upon naturally.
If you've got "it" - you get it. And
when you don't - the result can be
disastrous. So rather than suffer
the consequences many hire an
interior designer. Someone who
has an "eye" and knows what they
are doing. And expert who unites
disparate items into one cohesive
statement that makes life better.
In essence "good taste" is little more
than a filter. A limited perspective
via which all is evaluated. Interior
design being a curatorial process of
elimination. Thus while an item may
be treasured, it may not work within
the context. Establishing parameters
is one of designs greatest challenges.
What's good for you may not work
for others. Hence hiring a designer
is all about partnership. Together
you make your dreams come true.
A space that works for YOU alone.
Those with an "eye" enjoy nothing
more than discovery. Recently we
found these Wedgwood plates and
grabbed them. Only to learn they
are Daisy Makeig-Jones designs
from the twenties. Soon in April
we've got them up for auction at
Skinner in Boston. Back here at
the ranch in Lewistown Montana
we have lots of lovely things. All
ripe for the picking. As Diana Vreeland once said "the eye has
to travel." Come visit us today!
