OPEN DOOR POLICY

SEASON'S GREETINGS
Now that the holidays are upon us, it's time to deck
the halls. During the darkest days of the year we all
need something to cheer us up. And nothing is quite
as effective as a layer of razzle dazzle to help make
our spirits bright. One's portal is where it all starts.
A fabulous wreath, some fresh garland, plus a few
lights communicate that all are welcome to join in
the season's celebration. The same applies to one's
entrance hall. From the moment your guests enter
they immediately see that special things are sure to
come. Every year we hang our banister with a bevy
of fresh greens attached with ribbon. It's fragrant
seasonal scent greeting ALL who enter our home.
GOTTA GLOW
Obviously the tree is important. However we
try to keep things simple especially during the
holidays. Most years Frank's brother cuts us
a pine from somewhere near the family cabin.
As green as can be - it's soft and subtle till the
new year arrives. However in order to go wild
one must be willing to embrace nature's quirky
twists and turns. Once all of the lights are on,
we fill in the blank spots with a plethora of
memories. Each ornament calling to mind a
special person, time, or place. Every year it's
different depending on the tree itself. Hence
like me it may be thinner or wider this year.
BEST LAID PLANS
You don't have to spend a fortune
to celebrate the season. We simply
spread a plethora of pine across
every surface in the house. Then
add a variety of family "treasures"
that remind us of the reason for
the season. The creche shown at
left was a gift to my Mother as
a girl. Three generations later it
still holds a place in our hearts.
A longstanding tradition of love
is what holidays are all about in
our house - plus a few gifts...
