A LA CARTE

BLUE SKY THEORY
If nothing else creating the perfect home is the
ultimate act of self expression. Where we live
reflects who we are via the myriad of personal
nuances that combine to create one statement
of individuality. Rarely do such assemblages
occur instantly. Rather they're a byproduct of
a lifetime of curation. Which if one does such
properly requires time, patience, and an eye for
the details. In theory there are certain rules and
dictums to which most interior designers adhere.
However in practice, when it's right it's right.
Even when it doesn't exactly follow the rules.
Hence where one lives is a matter of the heart.
ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE
Tony Duquette lived a life fueled by an artist's
soul and the ability to make something out of
anything. The culmination being Dawnridge -
his home in Beverly Hills. There within was
a magical space created from disparate items.
Some incredibly valuable. Others everyday
items reinvented via a can of gold paint. All
combined in a way that was both unique and
magnifique. Obviously Mr. Duquette was a
genius yet creating a comparable statement
of your own is actually quite achievable. To
do so one simply has to go with their "gut"
and be willing to take more than a few risks.
MORE IS MORE
Style is ALL about editing. Or in
C+V HOME's opinion - LOVE!
Nothing is better than finding the
love of your life and taking them
home. Discovery is thrilling in
and of itself. However there is no
greater satisfaction than when that gem - that special something fills
a gap to complete a picture. Rarely
are such things practical nor truly
necessary on a daily basis. Yet
somehow make life worth living.
BIG WHEEL
Once every home had a roll to play. By the
mid-century owning stocked bar cart was
deemed a chic and necessary evil. Recently
we came across this French brass and faux
malachite movable feast. Not only does it
make a bold statement - it's quite practical
when laden with a bevy of booze or tea &
crumpets. Certain to make an entrance it's
the best way to clear one's table on a roll.
Hence while you may have never thought
you needed one...  post driving this home
you'll wonder how you lived without it!
Reason enough to love it and leave with it.
