LAYER CAKE
There are times when we all need
a quick refresh. Suddenly the tried
and true seems passe’. That’s when
something as simple as a pillow
can change your world. Cushions
not only enhance a room - they also
provide an added layer of comfort.
And who doesn’t occasionally need
a cushy spot at the end of one's day?
Like building an outfit - a layer or
two is not only luxurious, it makes
even a classic suddenly look new...
While hiding a multitude of sins.

Who knows why they call them “throw”
pillows? Except for the fact that one can
literally throw a pillow or two onto any
sofa, bed, or chair and suddenly change
your world! What I most love about the
right cushion in the right place is that
they not only look great but can provide
much needed backup. Especially when
one is perched upon a deep sofa! Being
lost in space is never the most elegant
of endeavors. Hence with a little extra
padding one can maintain their decorum
and decorate. Both at the same time!

IT'S BEEN SAID
Leading a cushy life doesn’t mean
you can’t have fun. Elsie De Wolfe
the legendary interior designer was
notorious for her witticisms. While at times sharp, they added a note of soft whimsy when embroidered upon a silk or velvet pillow. Such
notes as “Never complain, never
explain” if nothing else reminded Elsie's guests of her house rules.

WHAT A SHAM
Once upon a time, more was more.
“Designer” bedding trends dictated
that one piled their bed high with
layer upon layer of pillows. Which
required that even the exhausted
had to remove a mound of fluff
prior to hitting the sheets. Today things are simpler yet still elegant.
Little is as charming as a bed that
is topped with crisply pressed and monogrammed shams or cases. It
also insures that even the errant
guest knows who belongs where.
